I had a call from our bank this morning doing a security call. my card has a few transactions online that they wanted to check, I didn't recognise any of them but can't fathom how anyone got my details as I only ever use secure sites and I rarely use a credit card on line , usually my debit card. they are going to send us details in the post and a fraud statement to sign and have told use that they will refund the full amount, but it's still worrying, if it's happened once it can happen again. I can't even remember the last time I used that particular card

I use my credit card on line but would never use by debit card
A credit card is I think much safer cos then you can check your statement before u actually pay for the goods whereas with a debit card the amount is taken out of your account immed Nice of your bank tho to care

Last month, someone had used my details three times..........from the USA I keep a special card for online purchases, so that any fraud is easier to spot, and not mixed up with groceries and other day to day amounts. I use very few websites, and they are all secure, but fraudsters are always one step ahead. With a credit card, you are protected, and will get your money back, but it will probably mean a change of account which is a bit of a pest. Though you were very lucky that your bank alerted you, I don't think most banks are as thorough as that these days It just shows that we should all check our statements meticulously.

It's good to see that your Bank are keeping an eye on things. It's a reminder to us all that we need to be very careful.

at first the bank told us that the amount was for £21 and we thought it strange that they should question that amount, but when hubby mention that to them, it turns out that there was more than 1 purchace. and thinking back we havn't recieved a statement for that card for a while. we have cut the card up and they will supply a new one. I think they were offshore purchases as the adressess they told us about were all .com. the only thing I have bought online apart from plants was a game from an online gaming channel and that was about 2 mth ago

This has just happened to me. I only discovered towards the end of April that money had gone missing from my bank account. It had been going on since March sometime. Anyway, thankfully it has just been sorted out and I now have all my money back. (hence my shopping spree at Crocus to celebrate!) It's extremely annoying.
The bank were a bit slow at issuing the forms that I needed to sign, but once received, signed & returned, the money was back in my account within about a week.

Sounds a bit daft this but I had a deduction from my bank account of 0.1p to a company I had no knowledge of and whom I had certainly not authorised to deduct anything. I got twitchy about it, thinking that next month it could be pounds rather than pennies so I notified the bank. They were unable to explain why it had been deducted but did put a stop on further deductions. To this day I am mystified about it. Have to say the Bank personnel I spoke to didn't seem at all concerned. I'm sure they thought I was a daft old bat!

the bank has now credited our account within the week to the full amount and no forms to fill in. hubby found our last statement and it was last used 6mth ago by us. wonder if someone at the bank has had their fingers in the till, which is even more scary
