Gorgeous little things SO. We've got 'em somewhere around the pond and I do occasionally catch a glimpse of them. They're fantastic little things - once saw one take a pop at another - must have been invading his territory or something

Relised my baby newts today after reading the info Rita found for me. They were put around my pond if they want to jump in they can but they all scatterd and dug themselves into the garden. I hope they will be ok and find enough food after i have fed them bloodworms everyday

We know we have newts 'cos they like to go in the dry chamber of OH's pond filtration system. But I haven't seen any babys for years.................

Apparently newts love eating tadpoles!

We have just discovered we have newts..... We are really pleased...but... will they do any harm to the butyl pond liner? I have read that they dig in the mud at the bottom of the pond and they have little claws! And yes they eat tadpoles but we had loads to spare thankfully (phew) cause we love our frogs.)

Many thanks snowowl.... maybe we will both see them again in the spring. ......I shall keep my fingers crossed, that ours have dug down somewhere in the garden and not into the pond linner!.
