Watched James Martin make this at the NEC Good Food Show last year - it's soooo easy and yummy!
4 bananas ¼ tsp vanilla essence Sugar to taste 150ml buttermilk
Peel bananas and cut them into chunks, then freeze them until firm. Place the frozen banana chunks in a food processor. Then, add the vanilla and half the buttermilk.
Whizz the banana for a while, then, with the machine still running, pour in the remaining buttermilk in a thin, steady stream. Let the machine run until the mixture is beautifully smooth and creamy.
Yummy - I said it was easy. ;D

It does sound yummy Rita. I have a glut of bananas bought last weekend. Always end up buying more than I need. I will buy some buttermilk tomorrow and have a go.
Cheers

Rita - I have all the ingredients for the ice cream. Hope you don't think I am stupid, but do I have to freeze it after mixing all the ingredients?

if you don't freeze it...then why is it called 'ice' cream? I like the sound of this though.

I was nagged every night by OH to make your ice cream Rita! Finally made it a couple of nights ago. Lubbly jubbly! Will make it again as we have a glut of bananas again and more buttermilk.

I think you can use any frozen fruit with this recipe. Also if you have a dairy intolerence you soya milk can be used. Janet.
