with the school as I was helping on the school trip (reception so 4/5 year olds - oh boy are they noisy!!) It had a beautiful rose garden, the scent was amazing! I'm actually tempted to plant a few rose bushes myself. There was an amazing chalk garden too (being on the South Downs there is a lot of chalk!) where we watched a rather silly rabbit come out for a sunbathe, but rolling sideways down the slope (like you probably did as a child ;D) Best bit is the garden is free to visit so I will definately be going back again so I can enjoy it. Plus that way I can take some photos as there wasn't a lot of time for that as was trying to supervise four 4 year old boys... Jardack

Visiting other gardens is great, because there is usually something to spark an idea. Next time, go on your own, and choose one serving teas and home baking, and a plant stall.

Which garden did you visit Jardack? It sounds lovely, despite having to monitor the children!

WeeT - when we got there we were lining up making sure we'd not lost any on walk from coach to garden and we were standing by the tea rooms - Oh boy! The smell was gorgeous!!! Will def go back for another trip!
Plocket - it was Highdown Gardens, they were created by Sir Stern and his wife and given to the council who now look after it.
