I have a Prunus incisa 'Kojo no Mai' which has been in situ for about 5 years now. Today I noticed loads of curling crisp brown leaves and many others, though still flaccid, turning brown. As yet it's not affecting all of the plant but is dotted about and makes me worry that the whole thing will succumb. There is no sign at all of insect attack and no mottling of the leaves. Anyone got any ideas?

I can't help I'm afraid, but I find it a dodgy wee shrub, I have had two and a friend had one and they all suffered from die-back. Didn't die though. Are all the dead and dying brown leaves on the same branches? In other words, if you removed some branches, would you get rid of the brown leaves? Or are there some on ALL the branches? Have you had alternate hot weather and very wet weather?

Thanks for responding WT. My first one, planted in a pot, died just like that. But I found the culprits.......Vine Weevil <cursethemtohellsmiley>. There are some branches which, so far, are unaffected so I think I'll just have to cut out the ones with dying leaves and hope for the best. We've had plenty of rain so far but not really hot weather (until the last few days that is). I don't want to lose this as it is a beauty in the Spring and Autumn so fingers crossed!!
