i am being invaded by a type of beetle, its a reddish brown on top, and blue underneath, there seem to be toooooo many for them to be goodies, any ideas any-one.

the patio ;D i have just googled and found it on waynes world beetles page its the bottom one just above the year 2003, but it doesnt tell anything about it

Barbara is the blue - a bright blue, because if so I have got them as well - loads of them.

yes RF, irredescent, they seem to be everywhere, but my camera doesnt do close ups. and i dont know how to do the link to waynes world

thats it RF, and he is the one sat on the bottom right as you look at the screen. just above 2003, i dont want to kill them if they are harmless, but i dont want to leave them and find out theyre not ;D

its a cockchaffer RF the grubs eat the roots of mostly grasses but plants as well. i just found it by looking at pests on a page i'd googled

It can't be a cockchaffer Barbara - they are enormous - up to over an inch. and they don't have blue bums either... is there another possibility. RF

If you look at the chaffers, as it says on the UK safari site I poster, they have little fronds at the ends of their antenna. The Garden Chaffer is only up to 10 mm and has a dark green bum.

Odd isn't it - however I can guarantee that it isn't the cockshafer - so a shafer of some type perhaps.

Well I still can't get a pic of mine but I think they are garden chafers here - the cockchafers are only around in May and I know what they look like well enough.
Typical - when you want one you can't find them.
