I love that one too. My daughter picked it out two weeks ago at Webbs at Wychbold. She loves roses, they are her favourites and I told her she could choose one for our new rose bed, not a bad choice for a 14 year old.

It is from a collection called Painted and Novelty Roses and that particular one is Summer Magic.lovely isnt it? The yellow fades slightly after a while but it is so nice, not to everyones taste i know, but we like it. No scent though.

Thanks CJ I'm 'collecting' roses - criteria is they must be reds (mostly) and highly scented, also as disease resistant as poss. But that one, despite not being scented, just might find a place in the garden if I can find it (the rose, not the garden, that is! ;D). Could I ask where you got it from?

Shrub, I am collecting roses too and my criteria is firstly fragrance and mainly pinks, reds and purples. I have about 25 now of which about 5 were in the garden already when we moved there in 2006. This is my Paul Shirville - a salmon pink which contrasts beautifully with the glossy dark green leaves of the Hebe. PJ

That's a beauty PJ! Where do you get your roses from? I've been sticking with David Austin cos they've been great so far. Good performers and you know just what you're getting.

Shrub/PJ Sorry to interupt I use Peter Beales, also good quality. I have had no problems in many years of use. I find his pricing a little more reasonable than DA

Shrub and Foz, I don't have any particular loyalties to rose growers/suppliers. I have bought from Peter Beales, Apuldram Roses and also Crocus. The latter was a David Austin Gertrude Jekyll but a got a good discount from Crocus. I have also bought from Woollies - big mistake - mixed labels and wrong colours! Also from the Garden Centre, Focus and the roses were OK. My biggest disaster was purchasing an award winning rose called Tickled Pink and it nearly died on me and so far hasn't flowered. I bought it on a trip to Northamptonshire in 2007 from 4 Seasons Garden Centre. I would have taken it back but was too far away. I have been very happy with the roses from Apuldram - I bought about 7 roses from them in 2006. My lovely climber Eden Rose 88 was from them and the petals on this rose are outstanding! PJ

That's gorgeous PJ. I like a slightly 'shabby' looking rose, if you know what I mean, rather than one that's pristine. Softer, rounded petals sort of.
Thanks for the tip re Peter Beales Fozzie. Is there a local supplier or do you get them by mail order?

Had a wander up to a neighbour's (empty) cottage today, a sort of 'neighbourhood watch' thing - and there's still some of the old gal's roses out, around the door and elsewhere: OM.
