How is the word YUK racist And what if you give them familiar food which they just don't happen to like, and then they say YUK?

were being told no racist incident should be ignored even in babies and toddlers, the term hunt for racism is used. BIG BROTHER. the guidance is that any-one who disagrees is racist, that makes people afraid to speak out against things like this. there is much much more but if i told you they are saying people should all speak there own language, HERE because english is the language of POWER

When I worked for Royal Mail, our night manager was sent on a course, where he raised the problem of agency workers who could not speak/understand English properly, and also could not read the bag labels, leading to a lot of mis-directed mail He was warned, and warned more strongly when he asked if they were joking , that what he was saying was seriously racist and he'd better shut up now or they would have to report him!!!

Got you now, Barbara. ;D But now it is even more ridiculous. The supermarkets are full of foreign foods, and I'll bet that youngsters don't even realise it most of the time. Do they know that spaghetti bolognaise, curry, sweet and sour originated in other countries? And the High St. is full of foreign takeaways. So, if a a child doesn't like Fish and Chips, is that racist too, I wonder ;D Madness

makes me wonder sometimes if it's a matter of people being appointed to a post and than trying to justify themselves being there by making up petty rules and regulations. Its mind blowing in my job what health and safety can come up with.

I read it too Barbara. It's nanny-state gone mad because children under 4 don't know what racism is, let alone understand it. How can kids be reported for something they don't understand?

Have a read of this - the National Childrens Bureau published the book, Young Children & Racial Justice which is at the root of all this nonsense, as a commercial opportunity - the author also has posted some comment - I cannot see anywhere that this is 'policy' just a book!! www.ncb.org.uk/Page.aspx Tig

toddlers should be taught about racism and singled out for criticism, a government advisory group said yesterday. it told nursery teachers and childminders to record and report every incident. thats the paper tig.

When my daughter was at nursery, she took a real fancy to a wee boy. She would sit beside him and cuddle him at every opportunity, and she loved to stroke his hair. When asked to describe him to my Mother, she mentioned everything about him in great detail. Apart from the fact that he was a little black boy. She hadn't noticed that. ;D

That says it all Wee......kids just don't understand racism
When I had my son my daughter wanted to name him Mohammed cos it was different from the usual names. That was 27 yrs ago.

LP was the same WeeT - when she started pre-reception she made friends with a little girl and told me she was pretty, had brown eyes, lovely shiny hair but she couldn't remember her name. She turned out to be a little Indian girl with a beautiful but hard to pronounce name. They are good friends now but it was noticable how LP didn't mention the colour of M's skin. She still doesn't.

As Wee, Missy, and Plocket have said, childen do not see skin colour, they just see friends (or even enemies!). They would only think that skin colour was an issue when it was pointed out to them by one of these so-called anti-racism police! They are fanatics who actually instigate racism by pointing out the difference in the first place, and making a big deal of it!! And a lot of the most fanatical ones are white! Almost as if they are saying "Look, all you poor downtrodden black people, at how well I, (as an influential white person) am protecting you from racial abuse by small children,(indicated by the fact that they don't like your food)!!" The mind boggles!

If only we all stayed childlike and not childish. Hope it's not racist to say this, but aren't little Indian babies absolutely gorgeous most of the time ? I think it's the big melting dark eyes.

I hope it's not racist to say that some of those Asian guys are absolutely stunning too, with their lovely black hair and dark brown soulful eyes!! Oh no. that's sexist not racist isn't it?

Think you might be OK there It's silly though. If I said that my road was full of bloody Frenchmen, no-one would bat an eyelid, but if I said the same about Pakistanis, it would be considered racist. Also, when I am with English people, I am often called 'Haggis'. When I worked in London, I was hardly called anything else. If we called an Indian person 'Poppadum' it would likely be termed racist too. Though possibly not by the Indian himself. It is all the political correctness gone mad that cause racism and sexism half the time because it makes something out of nothing.
