Anyone recognise this? Not a rose as it has no thorns and the leaves are lanceolate and single. TIA!

Just incase you thought I'd lost the plot [ok, I didn't see the 'climber' bit! ], I've since googled, and there appears a Philadelphus mexicanus that some describe as a climber. So I don't look completely stupid! ;D

It looks like it's making fruits OB, could it be a type of Chaenomeles (Japanese Quince)?

Been told it is most likely to be Carpenteria californica, In which case it is too tender for us. Sad! Ta anyway.

Since we cannot keep Hydrangea macrophylla (hortensisas), Dahlias and almost anything which says 'needs shelter' on the label, alive, it would be difficult to find a spot for it. We actually only have one South facing wall and that is full. Annoying at times though. I can say that if a plant survives here then it is HARDY. We are probably almost due west of you Chuckles.
