But you've got NO kitchen!!!!! Are you living off take-aways or making do with a microwave and a camping stove???

But you've got NO kitchen!!!!! Are you living off take-aways or making do with a microwave and a camping stove??? We have a microwave and a little plug-in oven. We have had take-away deli sandwiches on several days which is getting a bit pricey. And given that the whole project is vastly over budget we really can't afford to waste money like that.

Have you no family nearby? You could offer to cook at their house and bring ingredients! I have done this for my brother and his girlfriend on occasion when they have had difficulties. Or dig out your slow cooker, I bought another the other day (£20 from Aldi) and its huge, Mrs Bills Chilli would cook well in one of those, and you coould always serve it up with microwaved baked potatoes or rice, as rice cooks well in a microwave. ;D

I imagine it is getting pricey. A slow cooker is an excellent idea, but cooking at someone elses house is also a good one ( ). I hope the kitchen is done soon Dr Bill - how long do they think it will take?

That's a good idea SL, you can do all sorts in it drbill, a good investment for now and future use, just put everything in it in the morning and bingo meal ready at the end of the day. Get to Aldi and surprise MrsBill. It looks like thing are really taking shape now, it will suddenly all come together you'll see. Keep on at the builders though. Don't forget to go to Aldi

I hope the kitchen is done soon Dr Bill - how long do they think it will take? They are scheduled to start next Monday and say it should take a week and three days. However we then have to wait for the granite worktop to be made and fitted and we don't know how long that will be. We should be able to cook though

Only one thing with chilli cooked in a slow cooker,Dr Bill.. the beans must be preboiled before putting them in a slow cooker, to remove toxins, as the S/cooker does not reach the required temp to do so.

I have certainly never heard of anyone becoming ill after eating tinned beans so its probably sensible, if slightly more expensive.( OH cant tell the difference so I tend to use them myself.)
