My daughter's teacher is leaving her school on the 23rd July. He has been an inspiration to the kids and every parent is absolutely gutted that he's leaving. He's also become a good friend of mine and i've helped him run the school football team. But he has been presented with an opportunity to teach in the south of France for a few years. His girlfriend is 7 months pregnant and it's far too good a chance to miss out on. So apart from the usual plethera of pressies he'll get, i'd like to make him up a box of goodies from the parents for a bit of fun....a French survival pack if you like made up of nicnaks that are often laying around the house. So in this box, i can think of garlic bulbs a french phrase book a small bottle of "vin de table" A few onions some french tarragon a beret And that's what ive got so far (i stopped short of French letters ) Any suggestions for fun, silly things would be most useful Andy

What a lovely idea Andy A small bottle of cassis (gorgeous with cava or champers)? Abba's 'Voulez Vous?' A paperback novel by Simone De Beauvoir, Jules Verne, Jean Paul Sartre? Pack of french impressionist postcards? French recipe book? Bottle of Perrier water?

What about including some of the things you think he might miss Like, maybe, Branston Pickle ENGLISH Mustard HP sauce Things that the French, with all their culinary expertise, just WOULD NOT have in their shops
