Been very disappointing this year.....my bananas haven't grown as i expected, the sweet peas have been poor, the tuberous begonias have grown so big that i've had to cut them right back or they've been smashed up by the wind and the hanging "pouches" over the pond have been a disaster. However, the tubs i have grown on the patio have been superb....a mix of French marigolds, dark blue sickly scented petunias and some night scented stock. I've also just added some stunning "copper purple" osteospermum. So here's a few pics.....osteospermums A real old classic marigold that i grew from seed....naughty Marietta Another nice new variety....Durango yellow And a general pic

As Susie would say 'fantabulous' Andy ;D
Beautiful colour combinations, love the osteos, will you manage to keep some cuttings over-winter?

Thanks me dear.
I don't know what the variety is but i just buy them as plugs from Wyevale. They are'nt trailing or anything flash...just Petunia F1 blue....£2.99 for 24 plugs.
Thet really go well with anything silver, yellow, orange or gold. Even red and pink would probably work with them and the scent is awesome....a real heavy sickly (jasmine like) scent all day long

What a riot of colour Andy. You took me back mentioning Naughty Marietta. I used to grow that every year in a circular bed in my front garden when it had a lawn. Together with Dahlias of similar colours and a standard Fuchsia in the middle! How things have changed in my garden......................but I did love naughty Marietta!!!!

Love all the old varieties....."Susie wong", "boy o boy mixed", "leopard" and "naughty marietta". The other varieties are from the new "durango" range which i can only get via work from Colegraves (approx £20 for 350 plugs) and another old favourite "spanish brocade" Thanks for the comments....you really can't beat a good show of slug food marigolds
