Fed up with crackly rubbish reception on FM, I purchased a DAB digital radio the other day. There are times when it's a bit hit & miss with the signal but generally it's pretty good and we can now finally listen to the radio in the kitchen !
I've been pretty impressed with it so far but I have heard that some people buy DAB radios and then can't get a reception. I was just wondering if anyone has had bad experiences with them.

i bought myself one for the kitchen and always listen to kerrang which I could not get on the old stereo. Sometimes when I first switch it on it takes a while to get a signal, but once tuned its great. I also bought OH one for work as he could never get reception with his old boom box he loves it.

I bought one when I moved here cos I couldn't get any of the radios that I had to work in the lounge....it wouldn't work there either ;D It was ok in all the other rooms but not the one that I bought it for...in the end I gave it to my son.

We've had one for a few years, sometimes it throws a wobbly and loses reception, it has got better though!

We've had one for a couple of years too but I'm not overly impressed. Unless the radio is near the window, reception can be a little patchy with signal breakup. We also have one at work and that is also placed near a window for better reception. As an added irritation, here in South Lincolnshire there are no local stations available on DAB. The best digital radio is ironically via the Freeview box linked to the TV. Perfect reception across all available channels. At home or in the car I tend to stick to the local FM or MW stations. At night if I want the radio on when I'm online I would choose Internet radio for better reception and greater choice.

We've got one at work wired up the sound system for them all to listen to in the mornings and I didn't realised until today that it actually tells you what song they're playing at that moment in time. Pretty good I thought!!

I love my DAB radio, particularly as I suffer from insomnia! I really enjoy listening to BBC 7 between midnight and 3 in the morning. They broadcast many old radio dramas series like Paul Temple, Rumpole, Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot etc.
Never have any problems with reception and as has been pointed out they display cast and summary of programme. It also displays playlists for music stations which is really good. It is so annoying when you miss the band playing and/or if DJ doesn't tell you name of song and artist.
I bought my radio in 2001 I think and it has been one of my best buys. It cost me nearly £100 but you can buy them for about £30 now.

The more I use my new radio the more I like it. I listen to 5Live and radio 2, both of which are nearly always good reception. I also like a bit of Virgin Radio which is also nearly always good reception. It's in the kitchen, not near a window and it was only when we first had it that the signal was a bit patchy. Now it seems to be good all the time.
