OH and I always have a giggle about this - he thinks it's a southern thing to like cold toast, which is what I like. I like that the butter doesn't melt so you can taste it better. OH insists on hot toast and gets grumpy if it goes cold. He's a northerner by the way

I'm a southerner too and I can't stand cold or even warm toast - it has to be hot...and only just toasted - no dark brown bits!! ;D

I prefer hot toast. Hate it when it goes cold. I'm a southerner too. But then so is the FD and he prefers cold toast with his pate.

I like it hot for the butter to melt in but I quite like it cold too... Prefer warm though! Just toasted, no black on it anywhere.

Has to be hot, so that the butter totally disappears. Then, and this could be a Scottish thing, I like it sprinkled with sugar. Yummy.

Has to be hot and not too much butter. I remember being offered lukewarm soggy toast with too much unmelted butter by a midwife having just given birth to my first baby. I have never forgotten that toast!

Just to be different, I have to say it all depends on what I'm having on it ;D
If it's butter & marmalade, I like it cold. If it's cheese, I like it hot.

Yes I like my toast very brown too.
If you do cheese on toast, do you toast both sides of the bread or just one? I toast just one side, and but the cheese on the un-toasted side.

Oh both sides! And the cheese has to reach right to the edge or you get burnt crusts. I like my toast very pale. In fact, my ex said I didn't make toast, I made warmed bread ;D

I have never forgotten that toast! Oh, that brought back memories. I had a General Anaesthetic when my daughter was born, so when I came round, I was thirsty and starving. The nurse brought me tea and toast, and it was one of the best snacks I have ever had. The toast was made with thin cheap white bread, but it tasted like nectar.

I like my toast anyway as long as it's crisp and crunchy. I originate from the W Midlands but have lived most of my life in Norfolk. I don't butter it if I'm having jam, pate or cheese spread..........in fact, come to think of it I only butter my toast when I'm just having butter on it! For cheese on toast I toast one side then turn it over to let the other side get just dry (not brown) before putting the cheese on.
PS, I haven't voted because of the first sentence of my post!!

Cold toast? Has to be hot for me. Toasted on a fork over a coal fire would be the favourite but that's a long gone option worse luck!

Well OH is a southerner and likes hot toast...but I like my toast cold (and I'm from the Midlands). I always have a sheet of kitchen paper to plop the cooked toast onto so that it doesn't go soggy as it cools too....don't want no toast sweat on my plate....

We do that Isabella, or in a T shape. But...... If it's for cheese it's a quick spread of thin butter and the cheese is there sliced waiting to go in as soon as the toast is out and still hot enough to melt it a bit! Anyway, back to the diet......
