Mine neither! ;D I love those statues of the goblins - want the one of the 'snail catcher' but costs a fortune. Maybe one day, eh? <wistfulsmiley>

Not exactly a pond DIY disaster - more an embarrasing lack of observation Kept losing lots of water out of pond, almost as if it was being pumped away Narrowed it down to the waterfall circuit, and replaced both pipes (pump - filter, filter - waterfall) and it happened again!! Sittting there, racking my brains ( ), while I waited for the pond to fill up again, I noticed (finally! ), that the big rock which forms the main fall looked different to how it used to, and discovered that somehow (?) it had moved back about 2-3 inches, and some of the falling water was running backwards off the lower rock instead of going over the front edge! Doh!!! I feel (I am!) very stupid!

It's great fun to look at the disasters but I wouldn't employ him: I don't think it's much of an advert to show off other peoples mistakes. I would have thought he'd be better off showing off more of his beautiful work.
Thanks for giving us a laugh though Steve ;D

I've got a pond disaster that will knock those into a tin hat !!!! It was my original koi pond that involved doing everything on the cheap.
I'll tell you about it later when i have more time !!!!

So here goes. This involves spending a small fortune but thinking i'd built it on the cheap by cutting corners.
I built the pond out of hollow concrete blocks. I didn't have steel rods going through them and i didn't fill them with concrete once built. The footing were shallow but hey, a fish tank of that depth would only need 15mm glass so 9" blocks should be fine.
I thought i'd cut corners on the filters too. 2 loft tanks and lids (£130), plus 4 taps for draining them (£40), plus pipework and connectors and glue and god knows what else and the media and brushes etc to go in them (over £100)
Lovely sequence 10,000 pump at a cost of £175.
Well, the filters leaked and i got so p'eed off with them, i took them to work and that's where they've remained to this day.
Then, i left the hose on in the pond overnight by mistake. This caused two corners of the pond to blow out.
As a result, i had to take every block down, clean them up and rebuild it properly.
I left the pump out in the rain....i didn't know they weren't weather proof....and that was that knackered
And i had to buy another pump and filter at a cost of nearly a grand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT CUT CORNERS WHEN POND BUILDING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
