I moved here about 18months ago having left my lovely garden and felt quite 'down'. But --I made an effort with my small patch and helped a couple of neighbours (who cannot garden for health reasons) and have been rewarded with these two cards with these messages-written in them--
"Dear Kath- How beautiful your garden is and how nice to have you as neigbours--you have made the place come alive and Thank you for your help with my garden--"
"Kath--You have inspired me in the garden, so expect to see me in the next 'Chelsea Flower Show' Your help is really appreciated--"
I feel 'Dead Chuffed'-- Bigs

Rightly chuffed Bigs! You are a very inspiring lady may I say. You've taken to garden downsizing, got the bit between your teeth and made something of not very much. Good for you. Long may you be appreciated!!! I may add you're an inspiration to us all on the board too!

How nice to find people who can be bothered to express their thanks Biggs What is so nice is that the garden improvements you have made are shared within your community and not hidden behind gates and walls ... it makes it all the more special x Tig

Isnt it nice to get a written card rather than an email - I had a nice letter written inside a lovely flower design card a while ago; hand written by two elderly people - I have still got it propped up on my study window sill But well done Biggy

Is'nt it funny how things work out Biggles. Not only have you gottten pleasure from rebuilding your garden and found it challenging, but you've made other people happy too.Your garden is one to be proud of you've achieved so much in such a little time. It was lovely of them to let you know how happy you've made them. So many people just don't bother these days. Keep up the good work. ;D

That's rather lovely Biggles, bet you had a lump in your throat. We just never know how our lives impact on other lives, do we? Well, if anyone deserves it, you do.

Oh --Thank you --Lovely friends-- Yes, Wee it did bring a lump to my throat and really made my day. It has made me thankful I am able to help others because one day I will be in need of help myself- A while back I was feeling down and sorry for myself but not now because I am looking forward and being positive. I love my little garden now -helping others in their gardens is also helping me --It is my little haven-- :)Life is good --

How neat that you have been appreciated in such a nice way. It is true that the more you give the more you receive and by helping others you are helped too!
Your garden may be small but it is lovely and obviously much appreciated!

How lovely Biggs! Well done you, specially as you've been hindered so much by the Council "gardeners" (That was you wasn't it, who had your plants wrecked by them?)

Yes you are right it was my garden that they had trampled on all the Spring Bulbs--Stupid men!! I now 'watch out' for them coming--and get out there to make sure they know what is grass and what is a flower border! ;D I am really enjoying pottering around and seeing the border take shape. Tig--Yes you are so right--the difference from this garden and to other one is--It is 'open' to Public View--which is giving others pleasure aswell- Only one problem --some people get their containers 'pinched' so I try to plant everything in the ground so it would be harder for them to do that.

Thanks Jardack- It is lovely that I can help others -They have certainly helped me to settle down here- I am sure there are other gardeners who have done the same-by sharing, dividing plants, seed giving etc. You only have to 'read' some of the 'Posts' on here to realise how Gardeners are always willing to share their knowledge and are always willing to give rather than take--
