I sowed some tigridia seeds last year (I do this every year btw) and to my surprise not only they appeared but so did this in the same pot I do have various ornamental grasses growing in the garden, but none are this colour and form, any ideas?? x Tig

Looks like Carex bucchananii (bronze form) to me Tig . I used to have one in my garden and ended up with thousands ;D S x

Thanks Susie, wonder how they got in there?? More to the point will they be happy with Tigridia seedlings for company x Tig

I planted an ornamental grass think 2 years ago - really pretty with swaying stems - this year I notice it has had many babies and they are everywhere - having to weed like mad - may dig it up

That grass and similar ones do self seed, but I have potted many on and given them to friends and neighbours. I think they are smashing wee grasses.

Just found the label - surprise surprise - and it is a Deschampsia cespitosa - how to prounce the last word is erm well goodness me <shriek> the mind boggles

I dont know what it is Tig but its very nice i love the colour.I am just getting fond of grasses having bought 2 recently they are very touchable arnt they?

I've got a few grasses in pots and they are very touchable ;D will have to go label hunting because I can't remember what they are. I reckon I've got some young Tigridia seedlings that I aquired from somewhere, I'll take a piccy and let you see if thats what they are, they look similar to the ones in your pot Tig I bought this yesterday because I just loved the colour

I bought one of those earlier in the year Chuckles, and a Carex Oshimensis Evergold as a contrast to it The other seedlings with the grass are definitely Tigridia, they were all sown in the one pot, the grass must have fancied bedding down with them Like you SO I enjoy stroking the 'fluffy' ones

No photo yet Tig I forgot Can now confirm I have these grasses and they are all in pots. Carex comans 'frosted curls' ......love running my fingers through this one. Stipa tenuiflia ...... lovely and soft to touch Uncinia rubra ....... love the bronze colour of this Stipa arundinacea ........ freind bought me this the other day for helping lay some turf and it's got beautiful seed heads that float about in the wind Imperata cylindrica Rubra (Blood Grass Red Baron) ........ awaiting delivery from Crocus ;D .......just loved the colour Ooooh I've got 6 grasses then
