I'm sure someone on here has grown one Steve, just can't remember who at the minute, but it may have been Biggles, you should get a knowledgable response!
And you are so right! This board does have a lot to answer for in terms of people experimenting ;D

Thanks for the link Chuckles. Karlslass seems to be doing well with them, I hope to be as successful I read on an Irish forum that someone has grown plants from dried Goji berrys but i think the Pineapple is a better looking plant so i will stick with that for a while ;D

Just found this thread, having had a read through the article it appears that Ive done it all wrong I didn't root mine I just bunged em straight into a pot of ordinary compost, not bromeliad stuff ! Oh well just goes to show you word of warning for you tho stevemc. If you have little ones I would keep the plants out of striking distance of eyes and other tender bits - they are very sharp and they bite !! Mine are back in the house for the winter and seem to be doing alright. I did repot them and think I might have lost one as it looks a bit unwell, I shall give it another few months and see how its looking. They dont grow quickly thats for sure. I am very proud of them tho and show them off at every given opportunity ;D How you going with it

I did mine like Bob Flowerdew said on a really old programme I saw on uktv gardens! I just cut the top off and stripped a few leaves off to expose a few of those funny little roots then put them in a pot of multi compost in a warm room. I water them from the bottom like african violets and dont let the compost dry right out (mostly !) In the summer they live in the greenhouse but I bring them in in the winter. Apparently they like humid air, but mine dont get that! One of mine looks as if its on the way out - its going very brown I wonder if they would root in a saucer of water ?? Might give that a try next time I buy a pineapple

Have just 'prepared' a crown as per the link, and bunged it on the kitchen windowsill in a rather natty 'Moonmin' mug I got for xmas.
I feel a trial coming on...

Ooooo how exciting - keep us posted then ;D I think I have definatley lost one of mine. Its very brown and I have moved it nearer the rad and watered it, I even dug out the sprayer and gave it a bit of a mist, but its not impressed - dont think it was delighted about moving pots
