I was very pleasantly surprised at the news. He reminds me of the late great GH in a lot of ways you know - that easy charm, ability to interact with anyone and how he talks about plants and puts things over. Looking forward to how he does on GW. It might get a lot more interesting now. Let's hope so, eh? Funnily enough, I got a whiff of GH too. In the revamp of the shade garden a couple of weeks ago I think it was his use of materials he 'found' to reuse. Very GH. Not quite in the same league as going to the local smithy and having them knock up a couple of bespoke obelisks for a few hundred quid!!!! I like a man who can use his own tools!!! Even AT was good at that.

I think he may be a bit like GH too. Down to earth type. GW has, since the demise of The Lovely One, seemed to be aimed at the middle-classes in its ways. AT with his forest of tree ferns, the obelisks, the small bungalow Sarah Raven uses as her hut. I don't object to that, as long as I get the names of pretty flowers, I'm satisfied, but I think Toby might put GW back on track. Naturally, the poor man is being crucified at the Beeb boards. I hope he realises, if he reads the comments, that despite the posters there believing that they speak for the nation, they certainly do NOT.

Perhaps 4P could have a word in his shell like next time she has a casual natter with him and point him in the direction of the decent folk.
