Seems like I am never here these days, missed this place but have had lots on, some good some not so good. My garden is being neglected too I've decided that I need a gardening mentor, someone who has lots of experience that is willing to share it with me. I always feel awkward if I get a professional in to do something to be out there with them asking questions. So where can I find someone with knowledge, that I can pay to help me learn the things I don't know whilst working with them and expanding my knowledge probably doesn't exist! Maybe I need to be a bit braver and just attempt things and if they go wrong (as so many plants I have put in have done so - ie died)) just accept it and start again... Sorry, am rambling tonight aren't I. Just feeling a little lost. Will go and have a read of other threads. Jardack

There's nothing better than experience, whether good, bad or disasterous, to fall back on. So get out there, do what you think and gain some experience. We'll be here to help, collectively, over any hurdles which our experience can help with. (Now who's rambling?)

Never mind Jardack - such is life, full of ups and downs, good and bad, happens to us all Glad you are back with us - Big hug Like SR says there is no better educational tool than experience, it is how most of us learn. We all have had success and failure in equal measure, you don't need professional input to get it right - just perseverance x Tig

Good to have you back Jardack. :)I've found that my garden takes me away from difficult things which are happening in my life. Even if only for a little while. Experience is how I've learned, trial and error, also getting to know your garden. We've all bought things that we just can't grow, having been tempted by them in garden centres or the like and some things which should be easy and grow like weeds in some gardens just won't do in mine. Having a look at other gardens in your area helps to know what does well. I've found this board absolutely jammed with advice and support and help from everyone, so keep posting and asking questions. Learning is half the fun.

get yours out and show what you want to work on, we will chip in with advice, we will send the bill at a later date. if you think something seems right have a go. if it fails we all do that, and when it works . read books about the particular plant your putting in, its nearly autumn so go to the library and get some books on gardening, they do help. and ask advice on here.

The thing I really miss since relocating down here is a gardening buddy.Someone to share our gardens together, give each other tips, go on buying trips, have girly, flowery chats etc. I tried several garden clubs but have found no one - so I come on here - it's almost as good, except no one sees my garden - but the friendship and advice are second to none

Hi Jardack so how are things now? You are not giving up are you? I pretty much do as I please in the garden and allow for things to happen. Sometimes that is working, sometimes it is not. Planting Geranium Sherwood in amongst the much more vigourous macrorhizome was my big nono of this year. I have sort of released them but will have to give them space to recover and then plant somewhere else. Not guaranteeing that they will do better but it will postpone them dieing.... I hope Gardening is like learning to walk but never really getting as good at it as walking. But the falling, I mastered that very nicely. It doesn't matter as long as you get satisfaction out of it.

Jardack Sorry you have had lots on, we can all help you in one way or another, if its not advice then support There are lots of people on here with a lot of knowlege and you dont have to pay them, they will give you advice if they can including me. If things go wrong dont give up just keep on trying, at the lottie this year ive had lots of failures, but it makes me more determined to succeed next year
We are all still learning including me, just think of it as a stumbling block you will get past it
If you need our help we are here and will help when we can.
All the best Karen xx
