Lovely selection Tig.I'd really like to try Eryngium blue hobbit which is dwarf and compact so should suit my small garden well. I've been looking out for it for ages and see that it's new in T&M's catalogue. I've also been thinking of the brugmansia suaveolens but I'm not sure. The pics on here from those of you who grew them look fantastic but I'm not sure I could grow it here with all the rain.

I don't know whether this is because I'm being frugal or what...but I reckon I'm going to be sowing a lot less varieties in 2009....(HAH!) I haven't got the space and I want to concentrate more on me veg next year....
I have a tin-full of seeds already...so I really need more?

;D I have a shoebox full too CPB! Just had a look on the packet of Eryngium - Alpinum 'Superbum', they grow 18" - 24" - not too big - and there are 50 seeds in the pack lng - if you want to try a few x Tig

I had a shoebox full - now I have a box twice as big and it is full of all sorts of stuff. I decided I would grow some black leaved geraniums and dahlias after seeing them in a garden here - totally mad....
Then toms, cucumbers, onions, beans.....loads less than this year, of course!!

Ditto that RF and I am still collecting seeds as well but soon I will post a list trying to unload some. I fear the hectic life and overflowing windowsill in 2009 if I ever be as silly as this year again. I am so going to sow less....... But in case anyone already knows for sure they want to grow yellow cucumber. All seeds are on offer.

:)You've been busy CPB. Those marigold look like real producers, I like the paler colours too. Very different looking Dianthus there as well, good luck with them all. It will be interesting to see how you do with that banana, up to 6 months for germination possible, no doubt you will keep us updated.

;D We find different seeds every year to try..we however have a 78 QUART container that holds our seed stock.. We put in a couple orders for a few things we need.. We had a huge garden last year..7000 sq. ft. not sure if it is going to be as large this year..or larger... We can or freeze everything we grow..& use fresh foods we have put up. Potatoes..onions..carrots..also have dehydrated peppers by the gallons.. ;D ;D So..do we need more seeds?? Yes for the things we want & dont have..

I use my heated propagator and all you need really is patience! I'll sow mine pretty much as soon as I get them as they generally take a while....up to 8 weeks to germinate.

Cheery how very dare you My 'bought' nanas are stored in a freezing garage and will be lucky to emerge unscathed - I already feel like a 'banana murderer" - I can't do that to baby ones Global warming? Sack 'em all I say (scientist who predict these daft things that is!) Tig

Erm no Tig. No sacking. Global warming causes the pole to thaw this means the normal downdraft of cold water stops this then reverts the warm gulfstream going past the UK to the pole. Once the warm Gulf stream stops we get an ice age. So Global warming wil give us loads of cold. YIKES. They are right....... ;D ( hope not )

Sack 'em all I say (scientist who predict these daft things that is!) Tig One of my bananas is outside (wrapped) and the others are in the cold GH....they'd BETTER survive! Yours will be fine medear...and the babies are usually small enough to keep as houseplants the first year. (!) go on...you know you want to.... ;D

Nope I can't do it to them Cheery, I need to wait and see if the frozen black things I have in the garage ever forgive me and sprout new growth! Anyway I have just bought myself a delightful selection of things to try and grow from seed ~~ Tricyrtis hirta, leycesteria formosa, callistemon rigidus, zinnia - red spider, clematis - Korean beauty, to name but a few Also got some oriental mustard - ruby streaks, looks pretty enough to grow some in the borders! x Tig
