My friend has a plant growing in her garden that we can't identify. She said that her girls got hold of various seeds from somewhere (she doesn't know where!) and planted them, and this "beast" appeared. It's about 3 ft high with large leaves (the largest are like dinner plates) rather like courgette leaves but the shape of the plant is like a Fatsia. Oh and the slugs love it! The flowers are white and similar to bindweed, and the prickly fruits are about 2 inches long (so far!) and have pepper-like seeds inside. I've attached a couple of photos which I hope will help.

Spot on Tig - I've now googled it and there are better pictures online but that's a very useful site. Thank you!

Thanks Amo! I've e-mailed my friend and advised that it's poisonous - she's going to get rid of it asap, and hopefully before it self-seeds
