Beautiful Rita - who couldn't love Tigridia ;D
The ones without the mottled markings are quite unusual - I seem to remember RF had a pink one earlier in the year. All mine are speckled and I look forward to their appearance every year.

Beautiful Rita - who couldn't love Tigridia ;D] I guess we can take that as an unbiased opinion, eh Tig? They are lovely. It's just too bad they are so short-lived. I had them at our previous house but haven't put any in since we moved here a few seasons ago. Interesting though, we don't refer to them as tiger lilies. What we call tiger lilies are just another variety of the regular lily family. www.holoweb.com/cannon/tigerlil.htmSome people also refer to the day lily as tiger lily. www.gardenersnet.com/bulbs/tigerlily.htm

Moi - biased TT I don't mind them only flowering for one day, they can get up to six flowers per bulb Rita I have most of mine growing in pots, they live outside all year round, but they are by the house so they get a bit of protection I suppose. I have a few in the borders but they are younger, grown from the seed of my originals. Perhaps they are a tad hardier because of that x Tig

I've been calling them Tiger Lilies but the common name is Tiger Flowers.

One of the common names I've heard for them around here is "shell flower" or sometimes "Mexican shell flower". By whatever name though, they are lovely. I might consider trying to find a bit of space to put a few in next season.
