Well the ones I put into the ground have survived, they're obviously much stronger than I had thought. I'm going to sow some more today.

I've got germination of the white lisbon spring onions sowed 19/4 in a big pot on the window ledge. I've removed the cling film today. I have to say they look a lot stronger than the ones I sowed on the boxing week trial.

to finish off this thread as far as mine are concerned. any spring onions which i still had surviving including the boxing week ones, went into the ground yesterday. Time comes when they all have to take their chances, they wer'nt doing anything more in their containers. Wondering why you hesitate to put your Sp Onions outside,LG,as they can be sown outside in Sept, and left to over winter, frosts wont harm them

Yes I know what you mean FB it was just that I'd never gotten around to hardening them off and the plot they were going into is still in it's infancy. It's still quite heavy clay and I just thought they'd dissappear. Also it's my first time growing them and I have been known to be a bit cautious at times. There's only a couple of them left anyhow.

They look nice chuckles. Not tried them before but always had good results with white lisbon. Infact, i sowed a few lisbon today indoors to try to get an early lot

You should be able to see Barbara, how big they are by just scraping a little soil from around them,it depends what size you want them,i like mine about finger size,if you leave them till they get big bulbs on them, they can be very hot
