... of the rest of my life.
Today I retired after 34 years working for the NHS.
At last my time is my own, not dictated by the demands of work. What a relief!!

... of the rest of my life. Today I retired after 34 years working for the NHS. At last my time is my own, not dictated by the demands of work. What a relief!! Congratulations, Dr Bill. I can thoroughly recommend the new career of being retired, although I have to say it is hard work! No weekends or public holidays, no sick pay, no structure in your week (except if one does voluntary 'work' such as a regular day in an NT garden, or some such), and being so busy that you wonder how you found time to go to work. Enjoy

Congratulations Dr. Bill although as Yakram says I think that you will soon find that you have less free time now than you had when you were working, that is if my relatives are anything to go by.
You will have to get a retirement receptionist to organise your busy schedule! ;D

Congratulations Dr Bill. Here's to many happy and fulfilled years doing just what you want to do, rather than what you have to do. Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy.

Like Jen's ex BF, my doctor has just "properly retired" after several years of doing 3 sessions a week, and I really miss his old-fashioned, taking-time-to-listen, confidence-boosting ways Some of the young doctors wouldn't know a bedside manner if it jumped up and bit them! I'm sure many of your ex-patients are secretly hoping you will find total retirement a little boring and do the same
