Erm, I bought 5 pots in the reduced bit of homebase for 10p each in about May. Do you think I've had my moneys worth?

By the way I haven't forgotten about this thread but 'certain circumstances' at the moment mean that I am unable to get into the garden which makes it rather difficult to post updates. I'll have to see what I have in the archive from previous years.

On my first foray into the GH yesterday for a month I was pleasantly surprised to find that my sweet peas were growing away very strongly. Of course they all need pinching out so if I feel up to it in the next few days I will have a go and take some photos as well. Repotting is likely to be on the back burner for a while yet though.

Thanks for the update Spru, good to see you.I'm glad to hear your sp are surviving, they're made of strong stuff, I'd say they'll be fine for another while until you are feeling a bit more able.

Well this year, i'm going to still buy germinated plants (about £1 for 10-20 plants) but im going to try to grow them properly in the garden. That means digging deeply, chucking loads of FYM in and trying to remove the tendrils as they appear. Let's see how quick i get bored with that ;D

Andy you know if you get them for that price it's pretty good going. I've paid £2.50 or so for 25 seeds. When you add up the compost, time effort £1.00 for 10 plants is grand. But it does'nt beat the joy of growing your own from seed.If yours do well then maybe you will save the seed and grow from scratch next year.

Looks like they are doing great lng! I made the mistake of watering mine (in the mini-growhouse) the day before yesterday, they didn't look very happy yesterday or today, think they may have frozen Fingers crossed they recover if it ever warms up a bit. x Tig

They're looking really strong and healthy FB. I think that after our cold weather they will be even stronger, it just goes to show how hardy they really are.

I had intended to sow more but as I'm busy buying more plants and seeds than I have room for I may have to think again.

My sweet peas in the mini-growhouse have three pairs of leaves now, should I be thinking about pinching them out? Or should I leave them for a while?

I'm going to leave mine a while longer Tig, mine are at the same stage as yours. They'll bush out well enough when you do it but if it's a little bit warmer they'll do it quicker as they'll be growing faster by then if you know what I mean.

I'll leave them and wait for further instructions then!
