I heard on the News today that Laura being voted off was debated in the House of Commons - she was topped to win - and then on the News about Strictly - oh dear Commons support for X Factor reject 5 hours ago Laura White's ejection from the X Factor sparked thousands of calls for her reinstatement and unexpected support in the House of Commons. White, 21, was sent home by the judges on Saturday after she went head-to-head with Spanish singer Ruth Lorenzo following a shock public vote. Only Cheryl Cole, White's mentor, voted to save the aspiring singer, who had been one of the bookies' favourites to win the ITV1 show. More than 5,000 fans have now signed an online petition for White to be reinstated or get a record deal. Some viewers claimed on petitiononline.com that they were unable to get through when they voted for White, from Manchester. Their comments included: "What an absolute farce. I am disgusted and will not be watching the X Factor until this situation is rectified." Another stated: "So sad but with the way X Factor is going maybe (its) better not to be associated with the show!" Meanwhile, Culture Secretary Andy Burnham said White was "wonderful and talented" and the decision to vote her out was "very harsh". Mr Burnham, who represents the constituency of Leigh in Greater Manchester, said it was "always tempting" for MPs to amplify their views to the nation on what kind of programmes they want to see. He added: "Mainly we should resist that temptation to comment on editorial matters. "Although the temptation is great in my case having seen the wonderful and talented Laura White very harshly voted off X Factor on Saturday."

I think most people miss the point with x factor. The people voted off are still going to tour next year and most of them will get record contracts. Who remembers past winners anyway? There are only two I can remember that were any good, and not just x factor winners, Will Young and of course Leona Lewis, even though she is not my cup of tea she is memorable and has a voice instantly recognisable. Most voters vote with their hearts and not for the talent. I am in the minority anyway because I did not like Laura, could not understand a word she was singing on Big Band week made me cringe. I get sick of them being compared to other artists, surely we want somone who has a voice and personality of their own and not girls who sound like Mariah. Im going to get lots of hate mail now arent I?? My daughter thinks they need some good rock bands on next year to liven things up a bit, but dont think Louie Walsh could handle that.

Oh No CJB no hate mail - ;D everyone entitled to own opinion I thought Laura had a good voice but NO PERSONALITY at all And past winners or runners up well where is the totally talented Rhydian I always go to the Tour and was appalled that they brought in Emma - the one whose Dad made her dress - last year AND there was no live commentator as the year before - just a "virtual" announcement on the TV image screen to introduce each act I think Emma was under the impression she was there because she was a good singer - poor little girl - I feel so sorry for her She was even brought back in again this year to the accompaniment to JAWS sound track

Caught tail end of news last night and saw Laura with a comment about people trying to send vote but lines engaged - has she been re instated Just found this on google Lauras Affair With XFactor Show Executive - Rivals Furious 21 days ago X FACTOR finalists were fuming last night after Laura White’s secret affair with a show executive was exposed. The Sun can reveal that sexy jazz singer Laura, 21, has been dating 38-year-old Mathew Firsht for MONTHS. She tried desperately to keep the relationship secret from rival contestants and other bosses on the ITV1 talent show. Dad Adrian, 50 — who also acts as her agent — last week denied Laura even had a boyfriend, saying: “She’s decided to stay away from them.” Now X Factor chiefs and other contestants are said to be “shocked and angry” after the relationship was revealed. A source told The Sun: “Laura has done her best to keep this a secret as she knows it looks a bit suspect. “But some people have found out and have been bitching about it.” Mathew — said to be a millionaire — has close links to X Factor supremo Simon Cowell and his fellow judges Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh. The source added: “Mathew is always backstage with them.” The executive has been a key part of the show for years, organising audiences for the weekly live show through his company Applause Store. He is regularly seen on set wearing headphones, and often chats with the judges backstage. Mathew — whose company also organises audiences for Cowell’s show Britain’s Got Talent — has already helped Laura get on X Factor. He met her at a Britain’s Got Talent audition in March, when her dad asked if she could sing for the crowd. Mathew explained how she could audition for X Factor. He and Laura became close soon after, then started dating. The couple have been spotted kissing and cuddling in central London’s trendy Covent Garden district, where Mathew shares a flat with his brother. He has also spent time with Laura’s family, being seen arriving at a London restaurant with his girlfriend and her dad in a car covered in “Vote Laura” stickers. One pal revealed: “Mathew and Laura’s family get on really well. They went out for a meal and it was all very jolly. Mathew is obviously besotted by her. He really thinks she’ll be a massive star.” Mathew is said to be convinced that talented Laura will win X Factor, and has been urging her family to place bets backing her. Bookies last night made her 10/3 second favourite to win the show, behind 17-year-old Diana Vickers. An X Factor spokeswoman insisted Mathew had no influence on the outcome of the show. She said: “Laura’s personal relationship with Mathew has no bearing on her place in the competition.”

Jenny---That makes very interesting reading--
I often wonder if votes are 'rigged'--but Good Luck to anyone who has Talent. Whether they win or not if they have the Talent then like Will Young and Leona Lewis or even Rhidian they will be sucessful.
As CJH has pointed out--"Most voters vote with their hearts and not for the talent."--

No tis true FB - I never did take to the music the Beatles did - although very talented writers it isnt my type of music
I have to say I just loved Rachel last night - she is so Mary Blige/Amy Winehouse - very unusual voice
I think will be Diana and Rachel in the final - shame Rachel has SUCH an attitude and Diana is always sobbing
