Now that the night are drawing in and winter is just around the corner, I was wondering if anybody else is making use of a slow cooker?
On Tuesday I made a nice chicken paprika, fed 6 of us with enough left over for OG and myself next day.

Did a nice sausage caserole the other day. not a lover of sunday joints being done in the slow cooker although mutton or a tough joint of beef always cooks nicely.

We use ours a lot, throughout the year. We make stews and the like, including scouse. I couldn't be without it.

Have just found this thread after talking about slow cookers on the 'whats for tea' thread.... ;D
Just wondering what type of slow cookers everyone has... I bought a Morphy Richards one yesterday.... It has 3 settings on it, low, med and high.
What setting do you tend to cook on?
And does anyone have any good recipes that they would like to share? Any tips too?

I'm new to the slow cooker, bought mine from Tesco just after xmas.
Have used it quite a bit, so far i mostly cook things on low for 6-8hrs. Its great for beef stew, and you can get away with cheaper cuts. I like chicken thighs to do stew, curries etc as it says in the wee leaflet with it that white meat does better on the bone.
I was at a friends over the festivities & was impressed by the chicken cooked in it, will need to dig out the recipe. Oh and it cooks by steaming the food, so avoid taking the lid off & stirring, the idea is you can turn it on & leave! ;D

I've mainly used mine just for stews, but have used it, as an experiment, to make a bolognese which turned out very nicely indeed.

Mine doesn't have any settings, it's either on or off! The pan is seperate though so I can make the casserole or whatever, then when it's simmering I can put it on the slow cooker base.

I love using my crockpot, especially when it gets so cold over here, and its nice knowing that you can throw somthing into it and have a meal when you get home. ;D
