.....is "Subluxated"which apparently means a slight displacement of a joint or organ, causing pain. It's what I've done to 2 of my ribs and it's why I feel like I'm impaled on a metal spike and can barely move Or so I'm told by my chiropractor. Anyway, has anyone else heard any unusual words that they would like to share the definitions of ? FA x

Well, it's been building for a while with bad posture etc and I also painted the bedroon ceiling on Sunday which probably didn't help either. However, the worst thing was that my whole back seized up yesterday morning..............as I was putting my pants on Apparently, my ribs have been out of position for a while, causing me pain and yesterday my back muscles gave up and went into spasm, meaning I could hardly move or breathe. I hardly slept last night and it's still painful today so I might give it another day or so then go and see my GP. FA x

FA what are you like? I hope you are desubluxated soon ;D
I've always liked the word "antidisestablishmentarianism" which means opposition to the withdrawal of state support or recognition from an established church, esp. the Anglican Church in 19th-century England.

I learnt that word when I was 10 P. Our deputy head taught us it lol
I hope your ribs get better soon FA xxxx
Tmesis is a good word. It's when you break up a word with another such as fan-bloomin-tastic.

A bit upsetting that one NO! ;D
Hope you're feeling better now FA. Find yourself a Sports Massage Practitioner. Mine did more for me than the chiroprator ever did. The muscles have to be right to hold the bones in place!

There used to be a word quiz on TV (or may have been the radio) some years ago, whereby the object of the game was to find long words with multiple syllables. Thus a regular offering was tintinnabulation, which relates to the ringing or sounding of bells. (Now what was that programme called? )

I like that word too. I tend to say thermo meter instead of thermometer in a silly way but in this house we have a lot of Star Trek on and say lots of silly things like phenominommm (do do de dodo( as in the muppets)) and aluminumumumum and then shout about losing I!

Me and my OH always do the Muppet song thing when one of us says "phenomenon" too, Amo! ;D Glad we're not the only silly ones ;D My word of the day is definitely "Chiropractor", and I'd like to thank FA for using it and reminding me to actually call one and see if they could sort out my recurring back problems. I saw her yesterday, and one of the first things she said was, "Have you always had one leg shorter than the other?" This was news to me, and we eventually worked out that it was caused by a bad fall from a horse about 18 months ago. I fell heavily (you don't fall lightly at 14 stone!!) on my left hip, and apparently knocked my hip about 1 cm higher than the other one!! And it stayed that way! This had caused my poor old spine to get itself in all sorts of tangles trying to even things out, and she found 5 trouble spots on the left side which she knocked straight with manipulation and a little rubber ball-hammer thing! She said it would take 4 to 6 treatments to completely sort the problem (well she would, @ £32 a time!), but the difference already is amazing!!!!!!!! So Chiropractor is my word of the day, closely followed by "expensive" ! ;D

Blimey Barb, that's a big word for a little thing!! And no, I knew the reason why my pants didn't fit was cos I am FAT! Btw, my hip is not quite straightened out yet. though it's getting there. Will take another couple of treatments at least (apparently)

not really one word, but I remember a wound chart in a nursing home that I worked in , one item was desribed as a malodorous fungating wound, or smelly rotten sore. One useless phrase that has stuck in my mind ;D
