Ahummmmmm naughty you to remind us ;D. How ever the municipality just cut the Buds at the entrance of my area and those are still alive and kicking after all these years. Maybe global drying did it but if so last wet winter should have done them in despite January being dry again. I still have no Buds in my garden or allotment. I wonder if Rosefriend yellow Bud is still alive.

Rosefriend Dutchy I was thinking of you both while watching Gardeners World this week. They had a lovely little feature about Buddleia. Hahaha - I thought of Dutchy as well - OH and I saw it on Sunday - it was interesting. I am looking forward to seeing what Carol does with that terraced house garden - wish I had high fencing all around like that!! RF

Well we had to get rid of the one at the front Dutchy as it grew enormous but I got another one from Herb's in autumn and that is very happy in the back garden... According to April's GW magazine there are new gardening type programmes coming on BBC4 ooo - do let me know Auricula please... EDIT: On second thought Auricula don't bother as I have just seen that Filmon doesn't have BBC4 !! RF

The paper this w/e says there's a few new gardening programmes coming soon:
Starting on April 15th on BBC2 is The Big Allotment Challenge which is supposed to be bringing Bake-Off fervour to gardening! Also in April, on BBC4, in another new programme called Growing Gardens and Green Fingers. Then with no details there's going to be a 4 part series called British Gardens in Time looking at Great Dixter, Stowe, Biddulph Grange and Nyman's. Chris Beardshaw is doing a one-off science documentary called Dirt looking at how a thin layer of organic matter sustains all life on earth and then there's going to be a documentary called Everyday Eden: A Potted History of the Suburban Garden.

RF Rosefriend sorry I don't know what that plant was, perhaps Tig or one of the others who have watched the episode could help. I went onto the website but it was no help at all. Thanks for the link Chuckles, sounds like we're in for a treat. I don't know if you've seen Beechgrove garden this morning on BBC2 Rosefriend. I missed it but it's one for your diary. Just seen Monty and Beechgrove - Filmon froze twice for a few seconds but otherwise I enjoyed both programmes... Onions and shallots next week on Beechgrove - that should be interesting Ladygardener. One thing that I have always meant to ask - how much actual gardening does Monty Don do at his garden or has he a team of people and he just harvests their work?? RF

RF I've often wondered RF, we'll have to check if he's got gardener hands next time he's on He really does grate me sometimes ...... like when he chopped that honesuckle the other week, he just hacked and pulled, never said about tidying it up where it was thick at the base, as in, selectively pruning or untwisting some of those stems and retraining it, check the wires, feed it bla bla. He just doesn't pass on all the info for those new to gardening. All that will happen is it will eventually strangle itself if those twisted stems don't get sorted (been there done that)...............and..............why didn't he hold those dead grass stems in a bunch and cut them all in one go, he again hacked and made a right mess to be cleared up. He seems quick and dirty sometimes and only tells you half the job. Oh I'll get off me soap box

Anyone watch Choccywoccydoodah....the fly on the wall documentary about a chocolate cake shop in Brighton ? Well last week, they came to the Rockery to do some filming and apparently they are going to be doing a "Rockery" out of chocolate complete with flowers, waterfall and pond. It will be aired in September but only available on "watch"....which is about channel 109 on Sky www.choccywoccydoodah.com/

He seems quick and dirty sometimes and only tells you half the job. Oh I'll get off me soap box It was the dead grass stems that made me post here actually...who in their right mind would hack at something and spend double the time clearing it up....well, there is bound to be someone but it sure as eggs ain't me!! That is what made me think someone else was doing the clearing up!! I checked on the Honeysuckle as well, having been in a mess years ago with one. I have found that when OH asks about something as he hasn't understand, language wise or gardening wise, I am not always telling him what Monty Don has actually said - I am telling him to do things the way I learnt - i.e. with all the cock ups I have made over 30 years... Sad though that would-be gardeners have, at times, to listen to a load of rubbish. People must complain - the BBC obviously couldn't care a monkeys!! OH said the other week that he prefers Alan Titchmarsh - so do I actually. RF
