I did'nt know it was on somehow and am annoyed it's not on catch, especially since there are so many rubbish programmes on catch up. I've set a series link for the remainder of it.

I only saw a few minutes of it showing the Young Designers Gardens. Did anyone watch Gardeners World, might try and catch up with it later

I just remembered that Beechgrove was on this morning and managed to miss the first ten minutes Gardeners World was OK this week, although watching Monty plant his banana and waffle on about it (£90!!!) was a bit boring.

I watched both Monty and Beechgrove....now then...what's all this about the shallots then... The first onions that I ever dried I did them similar to he did with his shallots - (well, wooden box actually) and they cooked in the sun - will someone explain to me how those shallots can be in the sun and rain (what if it doesn't rain) and even with drainage holes not get cooked..they stay there for 5/6 weeks... I must have missed something - even my OH asked if he had really done what he thought he had done?? RF

I missed not seeing GW or Beechgrove at the weekend. Shame they always bump the gardening programmes when there's sport to be watched.

Not quite gardening but does anyone else look at the gardens on tv programmes that are'nt about gardening. I find myself doing it especially with Lewis and Midsommer Murders for some reason.

The featured garden in Beechgrove this week is smashing. Lovely lilies and Acers, not to mention the hanging baskets, there were a couple of lovely water features too, I liked the one with the bronze coloured flowers. Tons of interest there for all the seasons.

Tons of interest there for all the seasons. Wasn't it lovely - I have that bronze grass that he had and the acers were gorgeous...really lovely and the difference between the front and back garden was incredible... The water feature was a dream...just marvellous. I liked the way they did that slope as well!! The Helenium Oldenburg looks good - will see if I can get it through Olaf but I googled it and there isn't much info at all... Monty in Italy was on before Monty - that damn blue suit that he wears - hasn't he got anything else!! RF

I often think that about MD too Rosefriend. He was digging in pots or something on GW with his jacket on and did'nt even roll up his sleeves.

Sometimes wonder if MD bought a job lot of those suits, after all, who else would want one I am quite sure that Monty was made an offer for that material that he couldn't refuse... I can get the Helenium main page open and then it sticks and bounces back to the first page - I got another site with Hartmut Rieger but no where that I can get the plant. I mailed Olaf - he hasn't got it either but will phone his brother Jens who is the perennial king in NW Germany and if he can't get it or find out where, then it doesn't exist - hahahaha!! Seeds are a no go as we don't know what we would get, do we!! RF

RF I have got an answer from Olaf and Jens and that is that the bloke that bred "Oldenburg" (Hartmut Rieger) has died and only a few of his new plants have been taken over by someone else...who, they are still trying to find out. Is there anywhere in the UK that has it?? RF

Thanks owdboggy - some really lovely plants there - Helenium "Oldenburg" however is not amongst them - Olaf Schachtschneider and his brother are searching here in Germany as the breeder( Hartmut Rieger) did live in our area but died in 2013 and his webside ( is still up but doesn't seem to be working properly.. I did see Carol Klein and Martin Blow on TV, but he said that Helenium "Oldenburg" had been send to him from a friend in Germany...!! RF

RF Martin has a links to Hartmut Riegers site from his special perennials website so assume it was him who donated the original seeds. Martin tweeted after the GW programme " Hope you all enjoyed Oldenburg - you'll have to wait a year or so until its ready to sell" So it may be a while before it is commercially available.

Olaf says not to even think about seeds as they never come true, Martin also said that on GW... I am still waiting to hear what Olafs' brother says.. RF

Ladygardener, I wish Beechgrove lasted an hour - it has some lovely ideas and good advice!! RF I agree Rosefriend, they had a right good selection of Peppers this week did'nt they. I like that the presenters have been there forever it seems and they always mention the gardeners who look after Beechgrove don't they, never pretending they do it all themselves. I like that too.
