Ahem.....It's not unusual for bulbs to show at this time of year. It could mean that you haven't planted them deep enough though. Don't move them but you could put some soil or compost round them to protect them a bit.

I noticed a daff bulb - well sprouted - lying about the place yesterday, and came to the conclusion it had been dug up by a squirrel. I'm mortified by the thought that the whole lot may not be deep enough though (one of hundreds in a drift planted last year) so will dump some composted leafmould over them to help them out.

my daffs are showing, and next doors as well, its not unusual, and I know they are at the right depth. I remember the same thing last year.

My Daffodils are poking their heads above the soil--I have spread extra compost on the ones in containers --the others in the soil will have to take 'pot luck'
The weather has been so topsy-turvy lately the plants must be so confused!

Aren't they silly little plants? Ah well - I guess they are tough enough to survive the winter. At least I hope they are!

Oh well it has brightened my day to think they are moving upwards towards Spring
They have been in the soil 2-3 years now and I did plop more compost on them earlier

Nothing looking like an early spring around here, although the temperature has been a bit up and down. We're up today a bit above avearage for this time of year and continuing over the next few days, apparently. I hope the plants don't get confused and start showing growth because it will certainly be killed off when the winter gets serious, and that usually has a very negative effect on their blooming when the real spring eventually arrives.
