Anyone know how best to get the inner skins off these?
I am trying to prepare some to blanch and freeze but they are proving a nightmare to clean!

Buy them in packs from Sainsbury's ready done. Blanching should remove the skins anyway.

They are best removed when the chestnuts are hot Tig but they are a bit of a pain. Try rolling the chestnut firmly in your hands once you've got the hard outer shell off. As Amo says though, the blanching should help remove them.

Thanks ladies. I sort of got them clean (ish) but it took me an age! I only wanted a few Amo, not everyone likes them but OH & DIL love 'em with their sprouts x Tig

Yuk, frozen sprouts - they just don't taste the same as fresh ;D x Tig

I agree with Tig - fresh is best. At a push I use vacuum packed ones for stuffing.
