If you can see it tonight it is absolutely massive, it is closer to the earth than it has been for yonks, (thats a technical term)

It's a great technical term Barbara! ;D Heard about this on the news - wonder if there'll be any good photos to take?

That just reminded us and OH has gone out to see if we can see it. Bet we can't as it's been raining.
OH has just reported, as predicted, that there is too much cloud. Typical. Last night it was clear with a hard frost.

Chucking it down here too, so no go When I worked nights, sometime in the early 2000s (I think), I was driving home one morning at 06.30-ish, in the dark so must have been winter, and the moon was quite low in the sky to the south-west, it was bright white and absolutely ENORMOUS!!!!

NO That sometimes happens when the moon is low on the horizon. It's all to do with the Earth's atmosphere magnifying the moon like a big lens. FA x

I remember one winter evening travelling east after picking my Mum up for Christmas and the moon was low in the sky, right in front of us, red and huge. Fantastic sight!!!
