I do ! In case you hadn't heard, Microsoft has been alerted to a potential security breach with IE7. They are making a patch to fix the problem available from today so if you use IE7, you may wish to download it ! news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7787445.stmFA x

Mine seems to store 90 e-mails,so when i get a new one,the one on the end gets deleted

Post by Jasmine on Dec 18, 2008 18:31:06 GMT
I hadn't given a thought to how many emails you could have stored til you 2 mentioned it...then I had to go and have a look! ;D I've got 1752 emails dated back to May 2007. Time to delete a few I guess - they must be clogging up the system.

Well Jens puter keeps saying that her e-mails are full, but she says they are not, mine seems to delete automatically, always leaving the 90 latest

Deleting them off the end seems to be a good idea. There must be a way of doing that.

Well, I haven't yet finished my security update on my PC because I haven't yet downloaded the 29 security updates that I need to download from Microsoft However, I hadn't updated my spyware & adware definitions for absolutely ages so I've done that tonight. Found 2 trojans and 108 pieces of adware on my PC I also updated my anti virus definitions and did a virus scan which fortunately didn't find anything. I'll download the Microsoft security updates over the weekend and then that'll make my PC up to date and as secure as it's can be for now. One of my New Year's resolutions is to do my spyware and adware scans more frequently. Once every 4 months or so is not enough ! FA x

There isn't an IE update for those on Windows XP at the moment Only vista! My mate did his and found 'heuristic virus detected' on both his PC and laptop! I tend only to find one tracking cookie when I run my AV software, but then I never buy anything online, and don't do internet banking x Tig

Click on C Drive, Outlook Express and you will see all your emails Even by deleting them from C Drive I still get probs I defragged a while ago and this stopped it for a while but they are back on again Have tried EVERYTHING

I use IE7 but do also have the option to use Firefox 3 so I may stick to that for home banking. On the other hand my ZoneAlarm AV software is very good at detecting trojans and key loggers so I am hoping that this will provide additional protection.

This is all gobbledygook to me I hope my Norton Internet security does all this for me. Got the pc set to defrag weekly and it says it does it but i don't believe it so I set it off myself occasionally. Don't know how to do a virus scan and don't know what adware is! Amazing how I manage to get on this site and make posts isn't it. Anyway windows has just done my security update for IE7 among other things. ;D At least I've somehow got the pc set up to do updates automatically!!

I wonder if it's got anything to do with having Vista. I am going to have to look into this a bit more.

I have Registry Mechanic, Spyware Doctor and Sophos all running in the background all the time. They do thier own updating and scanning. Can't you have yours do it automatically too FA? Or at least the udating.
Jenny, have you got auto archiving on? If the archive is full too then it may have knowhere to send them.
I would hate to have my emails drop off the end! I have saved important ones that go back years! Everything else is deleted anyway but I have lots of business ones saved.

Microsoft have posted the IE patch for XP users, it was a challenge finding it though Done and dusted - until some other crooked nerd manages to find a backdoor into the system! x Tig
