As some of you will know we have been busy building my art studio in the garden. Well, it's nearly ready and I have promised myself a lovely bright modern rug to keep my feet warm when working in there. I don't usually do bright and I certainly don't do modern in my house but this space seems to call for something with a bit of WOW factor. I have a short list of rugs but can't decide which one to go for. I was surprised at my colourway choice but I obviously want bright orange/red as they are all that sort of colour. Would you help me by voting for the one you like best to help me decide. I can't guarantee to pick the one with the most votes as I may make my own mind up in the meantime but it will be fun to see which comes out top! Here they are 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Ooh and here's the floor it will go on.

;D They're all lovely Suparuthie, really vibrant colours and I'm sure any of them will work in your summerhouse. I'm glad you posted them, I'd looked on your thread but could only see no 1. Good luck, I look forward to seeing which one you pick

Lucky you girl!! I'd love a wee place to do crafts. But I'd be choosing a rug that wouldn't show too many dirty footprints.

Tig. I keep being drawn to no 3 but I do like no 6 too. Wee I have a "magic carpet" doormat which is guaranteed to absorb all the wet marks and mud......well, we'll see . PJ Do I see just a hint of purple in no 3? ;D

It was a tough choice, but I voted for number 5 as I liked the colour and the pattern, and I thought it looked warm. I do like number 1 though.

I like number 3. The Picasso-esque design seems very appropriate for an art studio.

Amo, when it gets dirty I'll chuck it out and buy one of the others I had nearly decided on no.3 but not so sure now. As it's so popular it could become rather common ;D

Hi Maggy. Well I don't paint very often, not very good at it, but I use pastels and, as Amo says, they can be very messy!

I doubt no-one other than arty-farty types will be drawn to it SR ;D Chuck it out You can chuck it at me - I'll clean it and get years out of it when you decide it has passed its sell-by date Maybe I could convince OH that I need a studio to house it in - with the added pastel colours it will be unique

How about buying a plain white one and making the colours up as you go along ;D Hardly common then. ;D

Good point Amo. that way you will end up with an original ruthy rug ;D On reflection maybe you would be better painting/sealing the wooden floor so as it could be mopped when splashes/spillages etc happen SR how can you say you are not good at painting

Can you imagine how much a piece of Van Gogh or Picaso's studio floor would be worth if they could sell it??!! !! They do have some daft people buying bits of football pitches after all

I plumped for No 5 as it reminds me of waves crashing on the sea shore and I just love the Summer colours. If it was mine I would put it up on the wall and stand on sheets of polythene ;D

There have been some brilliant ideas bandied about on here!! Thank you. I love your idea Amo but I think the overall effect after a while would be a smudged indeterminate muddy colour! Anyway I'm a very clean and tidy artist, have had to be in the house> I don't make THAT much mess. Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to drop red pastel on the red bits and green on the green etc OH has just been on here and used my vote. He voted for no 3! I think it's nearly decided. That was one of my 2 favourites anyway.

I have just voted as well SR and I just love Nr.3. I have been having a look around the board and have seen your paintings and I am so impressed. Other members can paint so well as well, I am really envious. sunny

Thanks Sunny. Us gardening typse must be quite creative don't you think? Plocket, I'm glad someone picked no 2! After all I picked it for my short list didn't I. I think it has a certain charm and I was drawn to the colours. I guess some of those others are really TOO bright for me. Of all the rugs no 2 is probably the only one I would consider having in my house, but the studio is a different kettle of fish!

Yes, I would probably have number 2 in the house You could use it like an exercise mat - jump on black backgrounds, jump to beige backgrounds .. jump to black inners, jump to red rings ;D x Tig

Or..................I could draw hopscotch squares and get fit that way. Wonder if today's kids know what hopscotch is? Just thought I'd let you know I'm trying the studio out today! Got my desk up and am doing a pastel of a little puppy for my course. Just came in for coffee but will have to go back to studio soon as it's much warmer in there with my new oil filled radiator. Oh and I have a temporary rug. A small one from the kitchen.
