Anyone use Encarsia or Phytoseulius etc for pest control in greenhouses etc.
Im thinking of growing one of the larger specimen Daturas in my conservatory this year and i know they're a swine for red spider. As daturas get big, there's no way ill be able to take it out to spray it so natural predetors are the only way to go.
We used to use them in the palm house i looked after and iirc, they were a resounding success.
Any suggestion and also, where do you get them from ?

Ihave a datura which I keep indoors over the colder months. It doesn't get attacked by red spider mite but during the winter is covered in greenfly. I don't know why, as it is fine in the summer- they must be in the soil and then hatch in the warmth of the house. I've tried garlic spray and washing up liquid but nothing seems to shift them. I just end up squelching as many as I can but by doing so inevitably pull off a few leaves. Hope you find something.

I was thinking of using encasia for the whitefly this year. Could be interesting. We used the slug one last ear and it was fantastic.
I cut my brugs down in the GH and take off the leaves. They haven't seemed to have suffered and the nasties don't have any fodder then. They recovered quite quickly last year when they went outside.

Hi Amo,
When you say uyou cut down your brugs and take off the leaves, I presume the leaves grow back over the winter and you just let them grow? I also cut mine back quite drastically and then lots of leaves come back covered in aphids. Do you have the same?

I cut mine back in November and took the last of the leaves off over Christmas. There are little leaves just showing (GH is kept min 5* over winter) bit they are more controlable if they get a nasty. Have you tried a soap solution in spray?
