A many of you will know, there has always been the option to add your AIM, ICQ, YIM or MSN contact details in your profile, but until now that has not included Skype. For those not familiar with the concept, Skype allows users to make voice calls to each other, via their computer, at no cost irrespective of wherever in the world that they happen to live. The only stipulation is that both parties must be Skype users. It is also possible to chat on Skype (like MSN), make conference calls and indeed use webcams (the latter option only between two people). For voice calls you need at least a microphone and speakers or just a headset. As of now it is possible to add your Skype ID to your GWD profile under the Instant Messengers header:- Details added here will be visible at the foot of your profile, so please bear this in mind if you don't want everyone to see it. Clicking on someone's Skype name activates a separate window like this.... In the live version all of the links are clickable so even if you don't have Skype open, clicking on Call this user will initiate a Skype call to that person, although in Firefox (on my PC at least) it asks if you want to open Skype. Other browsers may vary on this point. Anyone wanting further details should visit the Skype website... www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/

NB: This option has been removed with immediate effect whilst we investigate a possible connection with board distortion.
