Hi all could you please help me with finding night scented flowers? I am doing this garden design course and they want me to name some. I can come up with; Night scented stock, Nicotiana only the lonely, honeysuckle and Brugmansia. But what others are there? Guess what they advised me to go to a GC to find out but I will only end up buying stuff and we have had frost the last three days again so that is no good. And at a GC nowadays the people in the sales area are not horticulturists. Besides the pool of knowledge on here has to be far bigger than any GC has on offer. Names any one?

Hi Dutchy I have just had a quick look through my book and come up with these for you project. Berlandiera, Asteraceae/Compositae - ( Yellow flowers)which is chocolate scented in the evenings when the flowers open. Zaluzianska - Night Phlox which has White and Maroon flowers and has a honey scent in the evenings. Verbena - Blue Lagoon which has a sweet evening fragrance. Hope this helps you a little. Good luck with the course.

Mirabilis jalapa, and dianthus although scented in daylight remain fragrant in the evening, and Jasmine.

There's also a shrub called night musk,White flowers which open only at night and close in daytime, I smelled it in cyprus and it was out of this world. You might be able to get some of that.

Hey you see I knew this board is a true treasure trove of knowledge. ;D Thank you all. If some one can give me more yes please but I now have 16 plant names already. I never thought about night scented/fragrance before but there are more than I expected. Has any one ever tried Pelargonium triste ? Funny how some plants have triste ( sadness ) in their name when they flower at night.

Morning Dutchy, I tried to google it too but the nearest thing I could find that looked like it was a jasmine which opens only at night. The name was told to me by an X so he might have gotten it completly wrong.
