I thought it was quite an unusual colour combination for a flower LG Quite a nice little display, I hope they spread I have quite a few more to come into flower, the multi-heads are just starting to open. I went mad last year Jas, I wanted some spring colour and they have not disappointed! And all the large ones are buried deep so once they die back I shouldn't dig them up when I plant bedding and stuff ;D x Tig

The last of my wild tulips are out. I did wonder whether this one was the same as yours Tig - not sure now although mine was taken in full sun. Lilac Wonder and some that are the most beautiful yellow which the camera hasn't captured properly and I can't find the label for them in my box. RF

Ooo PJ they are very pretty and the serrated edge is lovely I think. Do you happen to know the name of them? RF They are called "purple passion" blend and T & M says that they are supposed to be a blend of purple through to white. The first lot came up custard yellow - no white ones so far.

What an unusual tulip that yellow and white one is RF! I don't think we have anything like that here. Thanks Roan - I stopped buying "normal" tulips as they just didn't flower for me after the first year and now all I buy are wild/species/botanical tulips. They never let me down and they do grow into lovely big bunches. However I can be tempted when I see Plocket's lovely tulip above. RF

If you are interested in that particular one it's called Happy Generation, and there's also a red and white one (without the yellow) called Carnival de Nice. Another really good doer, with a stunning rose-like scent is Ballerina. They are slimmer pointier orange flowers but close up they are yellow, orange, red and pink. Gorgeous!

I must keep an eye out at the GCs and see if any of those have turned up here. I particularly like the idea of a rose scented one!

Are those orangeones scented? (Plocket named them as Ballerina?) they look similar.
I suggest rabbit pie as a solution to the nibbles!

In fact, I don't have any scented tulips. And my preference would be for curried rabbit. Problem is even if I could catch it, I don't think I could bring myself to killing it. Other than squashing lily beetles with glee and snipping slugs in two with a pair of sharp scissors, I'm a bit of a wimp for those sort of things. I wouldn't have any problems eating a nicely prepared curried rabbit though if someone else would do the dirty end of the business for me.
