I am about to lay my decking and already the alarm bells are ringing. Im not a lover of the stuff but it's a lot more practical than slabs due to the amount of heavey materials i have to bring from the front road through the house and into the back....my back is already shot to bits. But ive had a few people warning me how slippery decking is. My cousin has just ripped his out and replaced it with slabs. Is there any way of stopping it becoming slippery, is there anything you put on it ? Any help appreciated

Thanks for that Steve - we've had decking around and under our hot tub for 3 years and this winter / spring is the first time it's really needed a thorough clean ( I just stiff brush it usually ). I'll give it a try

I am about to lay my decking.. Is there any way of stopping it becoming slippery... I don't have any - but a friend has, and it's struck me when it's slippery, it's slippery along the ribbing... So, while there may be treatments and washing regimes that will help, I'd suggest setting it out so the most used direction across the deck is just that - across the boards rather than along them, to get the best grip. I've not got decking, other than raised beds made from it ;D It is notoriously slippery as OM has said, along the rib When you lay it they say you need to have a slight fall so the wet runs off.
