Yes it is annoying Mr G - I have done it quite a few times. I also always say that I will remember where I have planted the spring bulbs when I am moving things in the autumn...

It's one of the worst things about late winter gardening - spearing some poor daffodil that was just about to pop its head above the soil.

Yes it is annoying--Even though I try to plant Labels to remind me--I still manage to do it!
I saw a 'Tip' on GW programme where it suggested you put a circle of wire on the soil (round the place) where the bulbs are planted but I still forget!

I'm always doing it - I'm sure those plant labels run away in the night!

Even when you know the approximate area that something was growing in last year it is the attraction of bare soil that does for me I set off in search of suitable planting spaces and just as the trowel pierces the soil I find roots, then I panic ... by which time the damage is already done! Hate it if I splice a lily bulb, which is why I always leave part of the stem on over the winter months these days rather than twist them off. As for tulips and daffs - I plant them deeper nowadays that way most survive x Tig

I am ALWAYS doing things like that! That's why I always sow everything in modules and plant when I've weeded...I've thrown away so many plants accidentally over the years that I am ashamed of myself.........all the flower beds get invaded by nettles every year so they need to be dug over annually - now I either clearly mark where perennials are (although I don't plant all that many in the really nettle-y bits) or stick to hardy annuals and try and weed before the seeds come up again.......and I have cut down the number of flower beds too - they will all be wild flower meadows soon........ ;D

I like the wild flower idea, at least you will not dig through things ;D Annoying too is when you have sown too much because you think there is plenty of space and then come to where you intend your newby and find another plant you defenitely do not want to get rid of is growing there. Where do you then plant your newby. It was grown with great care, nurtured into a state of growth where you were sure it would survive and then you have no space for it ) And no, pots are not always the solution.

I'm always weeding out seedlings by mistake too I keep moaning that things don't self seed then realise that I've "weeded" them out
