York - it is on my 'to do' list, but I haven't managed to get there yet! Also Scotland (I know big place : but the midgies put me off as I have a severe allergic reaction to their bites... although I don't suppose they are a problem in Edinburgh? ;D Tig

I went to Scotland one August and the weather felt like late November - far too cold and wet for any self respecting midges!! ;D ;D

I've never been to Devon but I've driven through it about 40 times on my way to Cornwall which is amazing. Jasmine I can recommend the Eden Project, Trebah, Heligan, Trewithen and so many more.

Thanks Mowhay and Auricula. I am going to have to be careful not to fill the whole holiday up with gardens otherwise I will have a very small gang of 11 year olds in revolt and it's not good when they work together against something! ;D I thought you were quite a way further down towards the end of Cornwall Auricula. Will say if we venture in that direction.

Scotland or Ireland (North or South), the Scilly Isles (or any of the other islands around our shore, apart from the Isle of Wight and Jersey), Liverpool, Manchester etc etc etc.
Loads of places I've never been.

I've been to quite a few places in the British Isles but don't know what they're like as I was exhibiting my Beagles and only saw the show ground. sound daft but most of the journeys were there and back in a day so i didn't have time

I am between St Ives and Penzance Jasmine. I've never really fancied Ireland - I don't know why, as everyone that I know who has been there say it's great.

I will have to have a quick check of a map Auricula. My geography is not very good - only just found out where Badminton is - everyone looks very wise about the horse trials but couldn't find anyone who actually knew where Badminton was! ;D Ireland, both north and south is beautiful, we lived there when I was younger. It rained an awful lot.

Goodness I've never really thought about it. I'd love to go to York, and there are quite a few places in Scotland I'd like to go to, particularly some of the islands: we went to Arran and it was gorgeous so I want to see more. Plus my brother did some of his PHD research on one of them and loved it. And I've always wanted to go to Lindisfarne.

JAS, when you are sat on the beach look up to your left, on the side of the cliff is a white pub, the food is very good as I seem to remember.

We'll do that. Bit of a last minute arrangement but the In-laws are coming now as well. The boys will be so excited!
