Could i ask if anyone has any experience growing box hedges. I have been growing one along my front garden for 4 years now and i still have a few gaps where plants have died or been damaged ( our front garden is on a corner). To fill in with mature box hedges is very expensive so is there a suitably faster growing plant i can put in between that would happily grow with the box plants but still look pleasing to the eye? I'd be grateful for any suggestions as i'm getting quite bored now of my 'dot-to-dot' box hedge!
Many thanks

Hi Flower.
I've not grown box myself but did you know that you can propagate new plants from cuttings? I seem to recall Monty Don doing this a few years back.
As an alternative 'filler' how about Berberis thunbergii 'Atropurpurea? This could be easily trimmed to the height of the box and should blend in well.

I lovingly grew a dwarf box hedge for 3 years and just as it had knitted together and was beginning to look good.........box blight struck!!! I dug it all up and redesigned the bed!! Sorry, can't help with companion plants if you want something dwarf. If not, escallonia "apple blossom " is cheap(ish) quick and reliable

Thank you for the advise so far. I'm not too keen on growing from cuttings but will try the fillers that were suggested.
