I've tried another batch of this plant and it germinated very quickly, but has not put on much growth in the last few weeks. Can anyone give me some tips on how to keep it going as I lost all the ones I germoinated last year

Not one I've tried Beanie (yet ) Which type is it you are growing? Found this site .. www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Fabaceae/Caesalpinia.htmlSome seem to like it dry and bright, others damp, bright light and hot? (not much good outside here then at the moment!) The link word seems to be 'bright' so as much light as you can give it. You do try some challenging things - I am sooooo jealous x Tig

Thanks for the link Tig. That site says to do deep but infrequent watering, so I'll let some of them completely dry out before I water them and keep the other half damp and see what happens. The variety I have is pullcherima, the seeds germinated within a week and are described as fast growing, If I remember rightly mine germinated at the begining of May and are still only 1" tall so I was getting a bit worried

Wow Beanie, I just googled your plant and it is a stunner. Let us know how your watering trick works.

I've potted them into different compost and added a bit of sand but there's still not much movement

not a lot of growth yet Dutchy. I tipped one out of the pot the other day and they seem to be making a strong tap root with a few small thick roots coming off it.but the whole plant is only just 3" tall. Maybe it's a plant which gets a strong root system established first. Patience isn't my strong point. I don't think there will be any flowers this year.
