Actually looks quite nice , in a weird way Plocket,
In roses it is called Proliferation and I have heard (only heard) that in Clems it happens if Clems are in a pot and pot bound - they aren't coping well. No idea really - that is your expertise, not mine.

Mmm well it's a young clematis and the pot is huge so I don't thing it's had a chance to become pot bound. I'll have to do some research  |
