Has anyone ever grown a tree peony from seed. Two gardens I've been in recently have had them growing. One had a beautiful pale lemon flower and yesterday I happened to be in that garden and spotted a seed pod, it was still green but quite plump so I picked it ;D The one in the other garden has seed pods on too but I don't know what colour they are, the owners don't know either as they have just moved in but I will be there again next week and may just get a pod from that one to. Guess I need to let the pod dry before I investigate what if anything is inside

We used to have some huge tree poenies outside the palmhouse where i worked in Brighton....P. Lutea or something like that. They used to seed like mad and even now, some 10 years after they were pulled out, i still see seedlings coming up.
Easy to germinate and easy to grow....they are as hard as nails and will tolerate all sorts of abuse !!!
Good luck with your ILLEGAL aquasition chuckles ;D

Thankfully I have no bunnies Jasmine although there are apparently a few about in the fields above us, lets hope they don't go a wondering in my patch ;D Andy (or anyone) does this sound about right, there is conflicting sowing instructions when you search the web Sow seed in winter in individually pots using a soil-less seed compost mixed equally with coarse horticultural sand. Cover with coarse grit, and place outdoors. The cold weather will start the process. This seed has a double dormancy, it needs two cold periods with warmth in between and will produce roots in the first year and top growth in the second. Sounds like I'll need to be patient.

I've mislaid my seed pod, probably find it sometime and wonder what it is I have however aquired a broken stem, it broke off at ground level (noffiintodowivmeoccifersmilie) so I've trimmed it up and stuck it in a pot of seed compost and hidden it away behind the GH. Whats the chance of it rooting I wonder
