Is it only me who has the GWD header missing off the page? Is GWD having a blonde moment? Or is it just another strange thing to add to the ever growing list of strange things that my computer has done in the last few weeks? I think it may have Computer Swine Flu. It is definitely not well If I disappear off the board for a while it means I have taken it to Computer Hospital It takes forever to boot up, and the windows jingle sounds as if it's coming from underwater. Takes forever to do most things I ask it to (if it does them at all!) It keeps freezing up. It's drinving me insane So this could be goodbye for a while I'll go now while it's in a good mood and ai can get this post on.

It's all back now, so that's one thing which is not my computer's fault.
Its lastest stunt is that I no longer have the option to reduce the display down so that I can have 2 pages on the screen. So I can't put photos on here from PB.
Also had enormous trouble uploading to PB yesterday. never had trouble with that before.

Just have PB open in a separate window and copy and paste the links. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/wink.gif

Please give this idiot a quick lesson in copying and pasting Spru. I have never managed to do it yet When I do "copy", and then change to the other screen to paste, what ever it is I have copied seems to have disappeared into the ether NB - Please note use of word "idiot" in first line, and KISS i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cheesy.gif

Don't call yourself an idiot NO ;D there is loads of stuff that many of us, me included can't or don't know how to do.
OK I'll do you a quicky for Photobucket to GWD message......
1. Left click on the IMG Code in photobucket, it will become highlighted
2. Keep your cursor in that bit and right click and select copy
3. Go to your message window in GWD and right click then select paste

That's what I have always done, Chuckles, but surely you can ONLY do that when you have both PB and GWD on your screen at the same time??

Not true NO. Doesn't matter what you have open, when you copy it just copies and holds that info in a place called clipboard until you paste. Clipboard keeps the copied info until you copy something else or shut your PC down.
You can have more than one session of IE open at once, so PB in one and GWD in another just flick from one to the other.
Or have one session open and have several Tabs open.

I just click the back button once I have copied, from PB, then go on the reply icon, in here, and paste, if you don't right click it keeps it till you find what you are looking for. I hope that helps NO.

Sounds like you could do with using Tabs too Barbara If you are using IE you can just use the keys Crtl + t to open a new Tab in that IE session. So if you have GWD open do Ctrl t to open a new Tab and then just use the normal functions to open PB, via Faves/Bookmarks or however you do it. You just click on the Tab you want to be in once they are opened. Or......If you look to the right of the Tab you have open there is a small version of one, just click on that and it opens a new Tab. If you hover the mouse over it it will say (New Tab Ctrl +T) If you want to close the Tab you are in there is a little X in the top right corner of it. Hope this helps a little It's different if you use Mozilla/Firefox as your web browser, similar though

Right, scroll up to the top of this thread. Just below the Adverts you will see Garden World Discussions :: Anything Goes :: General Board :: Computor FluHover your mouse over General Board and right click, you should get a pop up window. Move the mouse down and over the Open Link in New Tab then left click. Look at the top of the PC screen and you should see a new Tab has opened for the General Board on GWD. Thats a Tab.

Sounds like you did good to me NO If you want to close the Tab you are in there is a little X in the top right corner of the Tab. So, once you have other Tabs open you can use them to go into different web sites. In the new Tab just use the normal functions to open say PB either via Faves/Bookmarks or however you do it. You just click on the Tab you want to be in once they are opened. This is how you have both sites open in one IE session. There are other ways of doing this but we won't go there yet ;D and everyone has their own way too Practice makes perfect NO and you are not a lost cause, you got 4 Tabs open didn't you Wonder if Barbara has had go yet

I do that all the time. I have all my different "tabs" (?) lined up along the bottom bar next to the start button. Is that the same as having tabs at the top? I have been thoroughly confused by this tabs thing My brain hurts.....ooh er.... PS - just tried what Barbara does. Got another new tab up the top (already got rid of all the others). So I clicked on it, and a load of old rubbish came on my screen. I never asked it for that Brain hurting even more now..... i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cheesy.gif i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cheesy.gif i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cheesy.gif

Yes NO, minimised windows appear at the bottom of the screen, and depending on how many you have open/minimised you may find that they are displayed as a single tab representing a group. Clicking on that tab will show you all of the windows open in that group. This is true for both IE and Firefox.
I don't use tabs in IE, only in Firefox, but certainly in Firefox open tabs appear at the top of the browsing window so maybe it's the same for IE.

;D Hows the brain NO The windows you minimise to Tabs at the bottom are different to the Tabs at the top ;D Bottom Tabs are IE sessions you have opened or other programmes you have open on your PC like Word. Top Tabs are Tabs within a single IE session. Take a chill pill and practice it a step at a time would be my best suggestion ;D

My suggestion would be ask someone to come round and show you ;D or in the winter when your not gardening you could try a pooter course at the library, I know a lady of 90 who goes to our local one for lessons

Take a chill pill and practice it a step at a time would be my best suggestion ;D I have now realised something I had completely wrong When I wanted 2 or more pages/websites on the go at the same time, I went back to the desktop and logged onto the internet for every one Been doing that for 2 years now Didn't know what tabs were all about. I did do a basic computer course but didn't have a computer to practise at home on and have forgotten a lot of the real basics, or wasn't told about them It concentrated mainly on using the internet and I know/understand nothing about RAMS, gigabytes and things of that ilk. I still get mixed up about the difference between a file and a folder Well at the end of the day NO we both learnt something which is what it's all about, maybe a few others that have read the thread have aswell ;D No way is the best way but some ways are quicker and everyone uses different words to explain things. It gets very confusing and I haven't a clue about Rams or gigabytes and am not about to learn either ;D

Thanks Chuckles for all the advice. I have managed to put my Azores pics on the Holidays thread using the tabs thing. Easier with full screens! You just have to remember whether you're supposed to be right-clicking or left-clicking! Glad I was able to help NO. It's not easy trying to tell someone how to do these things and I had to think Mmmm left or right ;D
