Last month I sowed an old packet of Winnigstadt cabbage seeds not really expecting them to grow, and i wasn't disappointed, because they didn't! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/wink.gif What did come up though were these two plants, and whilst they do appear to be brassicas, they are certainly not cabbages, so what are they? I am still watering them mainly out of curiosity but it would be interesting to know what they are. Any ideas?

Lovely Spru - no idea really, but it reminds me of Red Russian Kale but that has red stalks if I remember rightly.

Yes my money is on some sort of Kale too RF. I have space in the veg plot so I think I will put them outside and see what happens.

Sorry Spru but they don't look like Kale to me - they have the wrong shape leaves and don't look like any brassica that I've seen I've got no idea what they are though.

Are you sure they're not some sort of Spinach? They look like something I've grown in the past but I can't remember ....there are some very different sorts now...just a thought..

I've remembered - Good King Henry - I don't know if that's the same plant but it looks quite similar - Lincolnshire Spinach it's called also..
