???There is such an amazing variety of usernames on this board. I am fascinated to know how people came up with some of them. I presume they all have a personal meaning but some are - quite frankly - odd!

I started out as Tigridia, because I love them and had one which had four petals .. trying to establish whether or not this was unusual I had to register with a site - and that user name was attributed to me - but it is a tad long, so I became Tig on here

Perhaps not surprisingly this isn't the first thread on this subject Francegarden, but as the previous one was started in May 2008..... gardenworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=5888&page=1#165323...It won't hurt to paraphrase what I said then:- I opted for 'Spruance' eight and a half years ago when joining an internet quiz site only to find that every single name I thought of over about fifteen minutes was already taken (it was a big site!). In desperation, I grabbed a book from the bookcase, leafed through and picked the first name that I clapped eyes on. Which, fortunately was available on that quiz site. As I recall, the book in question was The New Observer's Book of Warships, so I am Spruance after the US Navy's Spruance Class destroyer. I did think about using a different name to join GWD in 2006, but since I was already known as Spruance on the BBC boards, I decided to stick with it. It does at least carry the advantage of being fairly readily available. If it's not I tend to tag the year on the end, so on Photobucket, I am Spruance_2006.

Thanks. Tig. Had to look up what looks like an interesting plant - will look out for them to plant in my still rather blank garden

I started off on here as BusyBee, name chosen because I was always busy busy busy in the garden like a bee ;D Then we had a GWD compo where we submitted a baby photo and an adult photo of ourselves and you had to match them. Anyhow, someone said I had a chuckle on my baby face photo and the name Chuckles was born. Think it was Jean that said it, seems a long time ago now. Meet Chuckles ;D

Lovely photo Chuckles, if you don't smile when you look at that image then you are very sad.
Mine is the name of the barn conversion I stay in when I am down in sunny Cornwall ( Yes Auricula I should have bought it 10 years ago)

Indeed you should Mowhay - it's a beautiful sunny day here and I can smell the brine in the air My user name comes from the fact that I like Auriculas - they have the same characteristics as myself.......delicate,fragrant,shy,resiliant,modest, perennial ;D ;D ;D
